At Amsterdam Dance Event, Beatport shared some of their upcoming plans for their music distribution platform. 2019 is looking to be a banner year for the company, with two major expansions set to roll out: Beatport Cloud and Beatport Link. Keep reading for the initial details on their subscription services and upcoming DJ software integrations. Beatport reserves the right to terminate any LINK subscription, effective immediately, in cases where such activity is identified by Beatport. The decision to terminate your access to LINK is solely at Beatport’s discretion. You can cancel your LINK subscription at any time. You will not be billed for the following month after you have canceled. The subscription can be canceled from the 'Billing Information' section of your Account Settings. You can then choose to downgrade your plan to Beatport CLOUD or cancel your subscription fully. The Beatport LINK Subscription allows DJs to stream the online store’s extensive catalogue into Pioneer DJ’s WeDJ app and soon into rekordbox DJ. Once linked to rekordbox DJ (Q3 2019), it will bring forth the ability to access higher quality audio, curated playlists and offline performance mode sure to be unrivalled.

Beatport Link is the music streaming arm of Beatport, offering practically the whole of the Beatport catalogue for streaming within compatible DJ software without purchase – and the company has just announced two changes for its subscribers.

Firstly, you can now listen to full tracks within the Beatport store – as long as you are a Beatport Link subscriber. This removes a bugbear with online stores in general, and is a much-requested feature, allowing DJs to properly listen to song before adding to their streaming playlists or, indeed, buying.

Beatport has also dropped by 25% the – admittedly previously astronomical – prices of the two higher tiers of Beatport Link: Link Pro is now $30/month, and Link Pro+ is $45 a month, with 50 and 100 track offline lockers respectively.

The basic Link subscription (lower quality audio, no offline locker) is unchanged at $15/month.

Beatport Link is currently available in Pioneer Rekordbox, Algoriddim Djay/Djay Pro, Hercules DJUCED and Virtual DJ, with Denon Engine OS coming soon.

Beatport have launched a new subscription service for DJs called LINK. The new service lets DJs stream Beatport's catalogue into DJ performance software, starting with Pioneer DJ's WeDJ app and soon into their flagship rekordbox dj. Once LINK lands in rekordbox DJ in Q3 2019, it'll bring with it an ability to access curated playlists, higher quality audio and offline performance mode.

Beatport have also launched CLOUD, a new set of features for the store's 'loyal customer base'. These include a Needle Drop player, so any part of the track can be previewed, unlimited re-downloads and a new My Library section. Prices start at $4.99 per month for CLOUD and $14.99 per month to add Beatport LINK. You can find out more and click here to subscribe to LINK and CLOUD. LINK will also come with a 30-day trial. Both services are currently in beta.

The news comes off the back of a year of speculation, as Beatport initially announced its intentions to stream its catalogue into DJ software at Ibiza Music Summit 2018. 12 months later, the dance music giant has made good on its promise. The implications of streaming in the booth have been discussed widely – how the new subscription model plays out, we'll have to wait and see. No word yet on when or if LINK is coming to Traktor, Serato or other DJing software but we'd guess it's not far behind. More news as we get it.
